Moorland View School

Moorland View School is an Independent EBD School, and is registered with the Department of Education. We offer an extremely full curriculum to a maximum of twelve students, of mixed gender. They are taught by qualified teachers and support workers in small group or individual settings.

Our philosophy dictates that every young person deserves and has the right to the opportunity to reach their full potential and to receive the best possible education to carry them through life. We place great emphasis on the provision of Individual Education Programmes to raise achievement for all young people who have experienced severe disruption in their education to date.

Facilities within the school have been recently upgraded to include a new I.T.Suite, an increased number of classrooms, a cookery room, quiet room/therapy room, and a music room equipped with drums, guitars and keyboard.

The current curriculum affords differentiated work according to ability in the following subjects.

Maths – English Language –English Literature – PSHE – I.T – Citizenship –Science – Geography – R.E – History – Art – D.T.

Tuition is also provided in French and Spanish. Music lessons are available on a weekly basis using visiting sessional musicians.

Sporting activities include badminton, football, cricket, snow boarding, walking and visits to a gym. Students are instructed in the subject of Sport Related Science.

Aromatherapy treatment is available and is administered by a qualified IIHHT Therapist.

Awards in academic subjects may be gained through A.Q.A. Single Unit or Certificate of Achievement Schemes or through G.C.S.E. Examinations. Older students are exposed to prevocational skills , college and career opportunities. We have excellent links with local colleges and students are encouraged to attend college courses with support where appropriate.

Admissions to the school are considered on receipt of a full education history with details of any Statement and other documentation where possible.
